Peru Cultural tour 12 days
Traveling in Peru, the land of the Incas, offers a fantastic opportunity lo learn about this ancestral culture while enjoying magnificent landscapes of the great Andean mountains, the mysterious Amazon Rainforest and the rich culture, food and history. This beautiful tour offered with Shared Services (in pool) will permit you to visit the main touristic areas of Peru: we start with the city of Lima, the Capital of Peru. Then we go for a visit to the world famous Machu Picchu and the enchanting city of Cusco and the last visit will be at the Lake Titicaca and the interesting Uros and Taquile Islands.
Day 1: Lima Arrival Arrival in Lima. Reception and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Lima ½ day City Tour (shared in pool tour) Excursion starts at about 9 a.m. with a pick up from your hotel. This excursion offers the best combination of the different attractions in Lima and its three historical periods: pre-Hispanic with the interesting Huaca Pucllana archaeological centre, colonial Lima with the Plaza San Martin, the Plaza Mayor, San Francisco Convent and its impressive catacombs and finally the contemporary Lima with a visit to the most traditional residential areas in the capital: The Olive Grove of San Isidro, Miraflores and Larco Mar a new distinctive tourist centre of the modern Lima. Day 3: Lima – Arequipa ½ day City Tour (in pool services) From Lima flight towards Arequipa, one of the most beautiful areas in Peru. Transfer in to the hotel and in the afternoon we do a 3 hours shared (in pool) tour to visit the “White” City” including Santa Catalina Monastery, Mansion del Fundador, El Molino de Sabandía and other interesting touristic sites. Hotel accommodations in Arequipa. (B).
Day 4: Arequipa – Chivay (Colca Canyon Tour 2D/1N in shared services) Morning drive towards the Aguada National Reserve where you can observe heard of Vicuñas on the high plateau. On the way enjoy nice views of the Volcanoes: Misti, Chachani and Ampato. Finally we will arrive in Chivay Town. Hotel. B.
Day 5: Chivay – Colca Canyon - Arequipa (shared services tour – in pool) Early morning starts our journey towards “Cruz del Condor” to observe the impressive flight of the Condor, the “King of the Andes”. From here we get a view of the famous Colca Canyon, the deepest in the world. Return to Chivay continuing afterwards back to Arequipa where we will arrive late in the afternoon. Transfer to your hotel. (B).
Day 6: Arequipa – Puno (public bus transport) In the morning we transfer you to the bus station and public bus transport to the city of Puno. This journey is plenty of beautiful views of the high Andean plateaus and of the high volcanoes. On their own and after arrival in the hotel, passengers can visit the main square and have the opportunity to appreciate the Indian Market in the city of Puno and all the surroundings in this area. Day 7: Puno – Titicaca Lake (Uros & Taquile Islands) (shared - in pool tour) From your hotel transfer to the shores of Titicaca Lake and by boat travel to Uros, the unique floating islands located on Titicaca Lake. On this group of 40 big island-like packs of floating totora (reeds), Uros natives continue living like their ancestors, preserving its costumes and idiosyncrasy, but above all, their own system of communal life. Later on we continue to visit the Taquile Island, where are still living descendants from the Incas and they spin the finest woven goods in Peru. Late afternoon return to Puno and transfer to your hotel. (B, L).
Day 8: Puno – Cusco (with shared tourist bus transport) Comfortable shared tourist bus Inka Express transport to Cusco. On the way we visit to the communities of Pukara and stop at La Raya where herds of Vicuñas can be seen. Stop in Sicuani town for lunch. Afterwards we continue towards Racchi to visit the Temple of Wiracocha and finally we will get a stop in Andahuaylillas to visit the famous Chapel of Checacupe. Hotel in Cusco. (B, L).
Day 9: Cusco ½ City Tour (shared - in pool tour) Breakfast. Morning visit to the nearby ruins of Cusco: Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Tambo Machay, including a visit to the Koricancha Temple. Free afternoon. Hotel in Cusco. (B).
Day 10: Cusco – Sacred Valley – Cusco (shared - in pool tour) Breakfast. Full day tour to the Sacred Valley to visit the Pisac Indian market and the impressive fortress of Ollantaytambo with lunch in a nice local hacienda. Visit Chinchero Inca town. Transport back to Cusco. Overnight in a Hotel in Cusco. (B).
Day 11: Cusco - Machu Picchu – Cusco (shared - in pool tour) Early morning transfer to the train station and departure with a local train to Aguas Calientes. From this point and with a public bus we will go to the entrance to the famous Lost City of the Incas: Machu Picchu, one of the most impressive Inca remains in the world. Late afternoon drive to Aguas Calientes by public bus and return to Cusco by train. Hotel in Cusco. (B).
Day 12: Cusco – Lima out Transfer to the airport and flight to Lima where you arrive in time to catch your international flight back home. B.
